Boy helps save dolphin

Authorities have praised the efforts of a father and son who they say saved the life of a bottlenose dolphin washed up on a beach near Leeman, north of Perth, Australia.

The pair guided the juvenile dolphin out to deeper water but it continued to strand itself.

The Department of Environment and Conservation says the duo kept the dolphin calm and off the sand for hours, which prevented it from becoming injured, overheated or sunburnt.

The dolphin’s health was then assessed by a vet and it was later released near a sanctuary zone with the help of a patrol boat.
