With its dead baby on its back and a tear in its eye, a dolphin has been captured on camera at sea taking its loved one on a final journey to a watery grave.
Tourists to Chinaâs Guangxi Zhuang region witnessed the moving scene of the dolphin mother swimming out to the deep sea with its deceased baby. Pictures of it have become an internet sensation in China.
The tourists didnât realize the baby dolphin was dead until their motorboat approached the dolphins. I There was a 30cm long cut in the baby dolphinâs belly where the blood had turned black.
The baby dolphin slipped from the adult dolphinâs back five times in rough seas and almost sank, but each time the adult dolphin retrieved it and continued her lonely voyage out into the deep.
It is thought the baby dolphin was probably killed by a fishing boat’s propellor.
“I have heard dolphin saves human, but itâs my first time to see such a scene” said a boatman who has lived in the area for 60 years.
